After witnessing the accidental murder of his mother's lover by his father, young Tommy is so traumatized that he loses his ability to speak or to care about life. As his life meanders on in post World War II, he suffers abuse from sadistic relatives and neighbours. Tommy's life is saved, however, when he falls in love with pinball. He becomes such an expert at the game that he rises to the stature of an international superstar and inspires youth around the world. This multi-award winning adaptation of the original chart-topping rock album includes hit songs such as "Pinball Wizard", “Amazing Journey” and "See Me, Feel Me" Production Team Director – Andy Smith Musical Director – Paul Berry Choreographer – Debbie Smith Dates/Venue Wednesday 18th – Saturday 21st February 2009 Mick Jagger Centre, Dartford. Rehearsals First rehearsal Wednesday 10th September at 7.45pm Pre audition rehearsals Sunday 14th September at 3pm (Dance) and Wednesday 17th September at 7.45pm (Singing). Auditions to be held Dance Sunday 14th September 5:30pm and Singing Wednesday 24th September at 7.30pm. Rehearsal will take place mainly on a Wednesday (with the occasional Tuesday) and Sundays at Heathfields Hall. Full schedule and times to be confirmed. Cast
As you can see the cast is a mix of ages and will include the use of the youths for the younger Tommy’s. The cast size will be between 20 – 30 persons. Casting will be by means of an audition and will be open to all members of the society including patron members. Note: The show deals with issues such as bullying and child abuse. It goes without saying that the parents of the young Tommy’s will be fully aware of this from the very outset. The Rock Opera Tommy, which was first performed by The Who in
1969, was originally conceived by Peter Townsend and Kit Lambert with
contributions to the development by John Entwhistle, Keith Moon and Roger
Daltrey.
